Gustanto, Minister Counselor for Political Affairs, Embassy of Indonesia in Washington, D.C., discussed ways in which the bilateral U.S.-Indonesia partnership will support new and expanded initiatives in both countries within the new Comprehensive Partnership. He also provided perspectives on his country's transition to democracy and its unique geography as the world's largest archipelago.

Gustanto was interviewed by ACWA Executive Director Jane Walker Snider for WZIP's Community Concern Program at 88.1 FM. Access the audio of the radio interview.

Gustanto will focus on

  • An overview of recent Indonesia history, focusing on his country's transformation to democracy after centuries of occupation by foreign powers.
  • Perspective on the extraordinary geography of his country, a nation of islands stretching 3,200 miles, roughly the distance between New York and Los Angeles, with some 400 volcanos, one of which erupted on August 29 in North Sumatra.
  • The bilateral goals and benefits of the historic new Comprehensive Partnership with its focus on trade, science and technology, education, and military cooperation/anti-terrorism.

WZIP-FM and ACWA are partnering to produce Community Concern Programs featuring ACWA guest diplomats as a means to educate WZIP listeners on international issues that affect Northeast Ohio interests, economically and politically.
