Who We Are

The Akron Council on World Affairs (ACWA) is a non-profit, non-partisan membership organization based in Akron, Ohio, USA. ACWA's mission is to increase public dialogue in Akron and vicinity on international issues important to U.S. policymaking and to support cross-cultural communication and democratic decision-making by our citizens.

Our programs are designed to support audience understanding of the importance, the complexity and the nuances, as well as currents events, relevant to a given country's relations with Ohio and the U.S. ACWA has 501(c)(3) educational non-profit status as a public charity under IRS guidelines.

Leadership

ACWA is led by Jane Walker Snider, Executive Director. It is supported by a Board of Directors and advisory groups.
